Woven Earrings Medium - Neon Jellyfish

Weaving is a living artform that’s been passed down through many generations. It’s a strong symbol of the survival of Aboriginal culture, and these hand woven earrings were created by Sharni Ferrari (ne. Rowlands Beckett).

Sharni is a proud daughter of the Wakka Wakka nation who homeschools her jarjums (children) on Gubbi Gubbi/ Kabi Kabi Country in Southeast Queensland. She spends alot of time weaving with Elders, women and young people in her local community and some of Sharni's woven collections are named in language to honour her culture and Ancestors.

Dhilla” translates to “long grass used for weaving” which reflects the natural fibres used to create these wearable works of art. Sharni says "I believe weaving is medicine ~ It is deeply soul soothing women's work. When I sit and create my Dhilla woven earrings, I feel grounded and at peace. I feel connected to the soul and spirit of this land, and I feel a deep respect for the women who weaved before me."
